FAQ

What services does Ball on Board provide?

We help basketball players find a suitable high school, prep school or college in the U.S. We prepare your file, approach schools and review offers with you and your family. After you choose a school, we help with the application and visa process. We stay in touch after your arrival.

What are the academic requirements for applying?

You need a solid academic record and references. The exact requirements vary by school in the United States.

What are the athletic requirements for applying?

Basketball levels vary by school and competition. We review your game footage, experience and academic results and discuss which options suit you.

What types of scholarships are available?

There are academic scholarships and athletic scholarships. We help your family analyse and compare offers and advise on what is realistic. Depending on the agreed support, we help you communicate with schools about the terms.

What does your guidance cost?

During the first free introductory meeting, with no obligation, we discuss the player’s wishes. Afterwards, you receive a clear proposal outlining the costs and exactly which guidance is included.

How long does the placement process take?

Start early: gathering documents, contacting schools and completing applications takes time. The schedule depends on your situation and the school. We discuss what you need during the introductory meeting.

What makes your company different from other placement services?

We specialise in basketball, with first-hand experience as young players in America and a national and international basketball network. You have one dedicated contact person and a client portal with tasks for each step. Our guidance does not stop at placement: we stay in touch in America and help if you run into difficulties.

How do you assess a player's potential for scholarships?

We consider your academic results, basketball ability and game footage to identify opportunities that fit you, on the court and in the classroom.

How do you match players with the right schools or colleges?

We approach schools with your file. A potential match leads to a video call with the school and an application. We review offers together with you and your family and help you consider ways to keep school costs as low as possible.

What role do parents play in the placement process?

We review offers together with the player and family. Parents can discuss their questions about age, basketball level and education with us. You have one dedicated contact person, including after arrival in America.

Can you help players who want to transfer from one school or college to another?

Yes. We support players who want or need to transfer, for example from high school to college, from JUCO to NCAA or through the Transfer Portal. Discuss your situation with us so we can explore which guidance suits your transfer.

Do you also organise basketball trips to America?

Yes. We offer trips to America to take part in AAU events. If moving to an American school feels like too big a step, a trip can be an intermediate option.

Is Ball on Board affiliated with a travel guarantee fund?

Ball on Board is affiliated with Garantiefonds GGTO. This protects travel payments in the event of the organisation’s financial insolvency.

From what age can I apply?

Fourteen, around the start of high school, is a guideline. We assess each player’s situation to decide when it makes sense to start guidance and build their profile.

I play a different sport than basketball, can you still help me?

Our expertise and network are entirely focused on basketball players who want to make the move to America.

How do I start the application process?

Send us a message using the contact form or by email for a free introductory meeting, with no obligation. We discuss your basketball, education and questions. If you then decide to work with us, the three stages of the guidance process begin.
