On offense, Merlijn excels as a shot creator, with a reliable three-point shot and the ability to score off the dribble. He’s not afraid of contact when attacking the basket and maintains good balance when finishing around the rim. Averaging 14–15 points per game, he consistently finds ways to impact the scoreboard. While he currently thrives with the ball in his hands, he’s actively improving his off-ball movement to become more dynamic within team systems.

Defensively, Merlijn shows steady growth and commitment. He’s developing his footwork and lateral quickness, and his willingness to learn makes him highly coachable. His defensive awareness continues to improve, and he’s beginning to enjoy the challenge of locking in one-on-one and disrupting plays with anticipation and effort.

Mentally, Merlijn stands out for his intensity and relentless drive. He hates losing more than he enjoys winning, a trait that fuels his daily work ethic. Training once or twice a day, he’s dedicated to constant improvement. His presence on the court is vocal and positive — he brings energy, confidence, and encouragement to his teammates.

Academically, Merlijn plans to start 12th grade in the Fall of 2026, with the goal of continuing his development in the United States as a student-athlete. His ambition is clear: to grow into a successful college basketball player while continuing to develop his leadership and all-around game.
